.Funeral services will be Sunday, September 17, 2017 at 3:30 pm at Collier-Butler Chapel for Barbara Vaughn Walker, age 80, of Gadsden, who passed away Thursday, September 14, 2017. Brother Herb Murray will officiate. Burial will be at Williams-Southside Memorial Park. Collier-Butler Funeral and Cremation Services is directing.

Mrs. Walker was a graduate of Emma Sansom High School Class of 1955, where she was also a member of the Emma Sansom Rebel Band. She was a proud member of the Rebels, proud mom and dedicated Rebel Band parent. She was a longtime member...

Mrs. Walker was a graduate of Emma Sansom High School Class of 1955, where she was also a member of the Emma Sansom Rebel Band. She was a proud member of the Rebels, proud mom and dedicated Rebel Band parent. She was a longtime member of Riverbend Baptist Church and a member of the choir. Barbara retired from Gadsden Regional Medical Center after 42 years of service. She enjoyed gardening, spending time with her family and going to church and had a deep love for animals.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Garland and Naomi Vaughn; and Walter Goddard.

Mrs. Walker is survived by in death by her husband, Tom Walker; children, Deborah and Johnny Thomas, Anita Baswell of Birmingham, and Renita Boozer; grandchildren, Taylor and Jessica Barrett, Justin Barrett of Birmingham, Heather and Andrew Acker, Anna and Jordan Teal, Emily and will Mullins; and 6 great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Johnny Thomas, Taylor Barrett, Justin Barrett, Randy Battles, and Ryan Ellis.

Honorary pallbearer will be special friends, Jane Nichols and Karen Bush.

Special thanks to the 7th floor nurses and staff of Gadsden Regional Medical Center; and Amedisys Hospice.

The family will receive friends from 1:30-3:30 pm at the funeral home prior to the service.
