Memorial services will Monday, November 28th, 2016, at 2 p.m., at Collier-Butler Chapel, for Mr. Dale Mark Bigelow, 69, of Gadsden, who passed away Thursday, November 24th, 2016. Rev. Harvey Beck will officiate. Services under the direction of Collier-Butler Funeral and Cremation Services.
Mr. Bigelow was a 1965 graduate of Gadsden High School, and he attended Jacksonville State University. He was a U.S. Army veteran who was stationed in Berlin, and enrolled in electronics school during the Vietnam era. Mr. Bigelow was a 1965 graduate of Gadsden High School, and he attended Jacksonville State University. He was a U.S. Army veteran who was stationed in Berlin, and enrolled in electronics school during the Vietnam era. Dale retired from Goodyear as an electronics engineer with 32 years of service, although he returned to Goodyear several times as an independent contractor from 2002-2013. He was a former Boy Scout leader of local troop #87, former member of Gadsden Amateur Radio Club, member of Noccalula Hunting Club, and an avid Alabama football fan and deer hunter.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Markey Bigelow; and his in-laws, Vera and John Brantley.
Dale is survived by his wife, Joan Brantley Bigelow; son, Jason (Sonya) Bigelow; daughter, Jenifer (Joe) Lovvorn; grandsons, Jacob Bigelow, Jackson and Landon Lovvorn; brothers, Phillip, Andy (Frances), Alan (Linda), and Eric (David Worthington) Bigelow; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Honorary pallbearers will be David Morris, Lowell Tew, former and current staff of Goodyear Engineering Lab; and members of Noccalula Hunting Club.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, MD Anderson Cancer Center, Salvation Army, or First United Methodist Church of Gadsden.
The family would like to express a special thank you to Dr. Elquis Castillo, Dr. Cesar Fernandez, and Dr. Webb Sledge, nurses and staff of Gadsden Cancer Center, MD Anderson Cancer Center, and Alacare Hospice.
The family will receive guests one hour prior to the service, at the funeral home.
