Surrounded by the family she loved, Doris Henderson McBurnett, age 77, was received by her heavenly father, on Friday, March 27, 2015. Funeral Services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Sunday at Collier-Butler funeral Chapel. Dr. Chuck Conley will officiate. Burial will be at Rainbow Memorial Gardens.

Collier-Butler Funeral Home will direct. Doris made her arrival in Gadsden, on October 26, 1937 as the daughter of Hobert L. and Betty Handy Henderson. Her faith, love and kindness was a gift to everyone around her. Doris married her child hood sweetheart Bobby Jerry McBurnett on September 15, 1953, and was married for almost 60 years. She was a devoted wife and mother of five, Michael "Mike" McBurnett, Phillip McBurnett, Murray (Sandy) McBurnett, Betty McBurnett (Vance) Greer and Tammy McBurnett (Phillip) Richardson. Having been a house wife for many years, Doris used her energy and zeal for life to nurture her 7 grandchildren who lovingly called her grandmother.Trena McBurnett (Chris) Clayburn, Josh (Catherine) McBurnett, Jennifer Wheeling (Matt) Wall, Brett (Becca) McBurnett, Hayley Greer (Stephen) Norman, Lauren Richardson, Hannah Richardson (Corey) Crowe and 9 great grandchildren God gifted to her. Doris' favorite past time was spending time with her family. Her love for God and her family was witnessed by all who knew her. She attended Crosspoint Community Church. Doris was preceded in death by her husband, Bobby Jerry McBurnett, and sons, Mike McBurnett and Phillip McBurnett. She is survived by her brothers, Hoyt Henderson, Walter (Martha) Henderson, Frances Roberson and Toni (Dewey) Burger.
She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.Pallbearers will be, Matthew Wall, Stephen Norman, Josh McBurnett, Brett McBurnett, Chris Clayburn, Corey Crowe, Kyle Goosby, Mark Thrift, Johnny Poore, Lloyd Matthews and Rick Kemp. Special thanks to her neighbors, friends, Nurses and staff of Gadsden Regional MICU 3rd Floor, for your prayers and kindness. The family will accept flowers or donations may be made to Crosspoint Community Church. The family will accept friends from 1 pm until the hour of service Sunday at the funeral home.
