Graveside services will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, March 28, 2015 at Rainbow Memorial Gardens for Ella Witherspoon, 87 of Gadsden, who passed away Tuesday, March 24, 2015. Collier-Butler Funeral and Cremation Services is directing.
Mrs. Witherspoon was born in Marshall County and married Millard Witherspoon in in 1948. In earlier years she worked for Bob Ford insurance then later worked for Block Harris and Banks Insurance until her retirement.
She was preceded in death by her sons, John David Witherspoon, and Stephen Del Witherspoon; parents, John Cleveland McWhorter and Angie Lena Putnam; brothers, Hermon...

She was preceded in death by her sons, John David Witherspoon, and Stephen Del Witherspoon; parents, John Cleveland McWhorter and Angie Lena Putnam; brothers, Hermon McWhorter, Grover C. McWhorter, John Cleveland "J.C." McWhorter Jr., Arthur McWhorter; sisters, Ruby McWhorter Gilliland, and Edna McWhorter Dobbins.
She is survived by her husband of 67 years, Millard Byrne Witherspoon; son Michael Byrne Witherspoon; daughter-in-law, Sheila Witherspoon; son, Bruce Witherspoon; daughter,, Joan Leitner; grandson, Daniel Roger Leitner; sister, Dorothy Jo "Dean" McWhorter Pertzog; and sister-in-law, Ann McWhorter.
The family will accept friends at Collier-Butler Funeral Home from 12:00-1:00 p.m. Saturday.
